last month i received the photos of 4420 arrival in US. These three photos present the unloading process and grounding condition. In this day, final process have to complete is loading all component and body into container. I will show you the process step by step. There are two container be used to load 4420, one is common, another is uncovered. At first, grounding container and put all component in this covered one. From FCU F-104 移交 Then make body and uncovered container in position for loading. From FCU F-104 移交 For loading body, the body was lifted to make gear up. From FCU F-104 移交 Although there are some problem in landing gear hydraulic system, but the crew solve the problem finally. Houston, we have a problem.... The weather condition today is fine for working, everything looks like fine and we will get a easy job. But there is something wrong so we can not go on schedule. Today, the workforce focus on wing detaching and wish the job can be done before sunset. The wing detaching process can divide to four steps. First, take flaps off the wing for protect BLCS, Boundary Layer Control System tube. Second, disconnect the aileron drive shaft from control surface system. Third, make the wing-boby connection screws off the position. Final, move the mobile multi-function holder in position for detaching. It's a nice morning Because F-104 is design for supersonic, it equiped a pair of small, highly-loaded wing resulted in an unacceptably high take-off and landing speed, so a boundary layer control system (BLCS) of blown flaps was incorporated, bleeding engine air over the trailing edge flaps to improve their lift. The Rear Section Cut Down The rear section take down is today's traget and CAAM workforce need to meet it. The crew start their work in 7am (it's so early, right?). At first, take elevator down. Second, it's should take off the screws connected rear section and body. after that, push the mobile multi-fuction holder into holding position to lift rear section. So rear section can move where it's should be. It's not diffcult job to take elevator down, just be carefully. It's easy, right? Next step is easier but don't forget to disconnect the hook. With screws be disconnected, the mobile multi-function holder move to position and be prepared. At this moment, the local students join to help the crew make this step well until total job done. move, move.... And we individe rear section and body. The last step today is load the section into container. But this time, it's not easy to make it. The container bottom is height by 5.5ft to fit. The solution is use the...

The F-104G This former ROCAF F-104G, AF number 4420, was stayed with people in Feng-Chia University in pass a decade. The F-104G was oringinal used by RDAF, Royal Denmark AirForce, then acquired by ROCAF in 1990's. FCU aeronautic dept replace oringinal F-86 Sabre and U-3 with this one in 1995. And 4420 become a baby of the dept. At first, the 4420 store in a dept factory for years, but the university policy make the factory distoried for new, beauty, and more useful building. So 4420 have to move to outdoor with good care and stand on greensward for waiting her next mission. Now show you some detials of the beauty. This shot present the stored condition before process.
